Obtaining an EIT is the first step on the road to becoming a Professional Engineer (P.E.).  Being licensed as a P.E. is the sign of a true professional and gives you the following benefits and allows you many additional privileges:

Did you Know?

  • It is unlawful for anyone to practice or offer to practice civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or to represent himself or herself as or use the title of “Civil,” “Electrical,” or “Mechanical” engineer without being licensed.

  • It is also unlawful for anyone other than a professional engineer registered by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to use the titles “Professional Engineer,” “Registered Engineer,” or “Consulting Engineer.”

  • Only a professional engineer (P.E.) can offer engineering services directly to the public.

  • By obtaining your professional engineer’s license, you will become more promotable and enjoy higher wages, earn a higher level of respect and credibility as well as the opportunity for a more diverse career.
