The
California Society of Professional
Engineers Education Foundation (CSPEEF)
was incorporated in 1986 to provide a
commitment to the development of a more
educated and aware populace.
The Foundation’s charge is to
provide the resources designed to increase
the mathematical, engineering, scientific,
and technical capabilities of California
students. The CSPE Education
Foundation was founded and is administered
by the California
Society of Professional Engineers, a
membership organization of approximately
2300 engineers in California who uphold a
professional code of ethics above state
requirements.
Current
programs sponsored by CSPEEF begin working
with students at the elementary level and
continue for those students interested in
becoming licensed and registered engineers
in California.
CSPEEF has focused its attention on
two program areas that are most effective
in achieving its goals.
CSPEEF
works to increase the mathematical and
technical capabilities of California's
middle school students through MATHCOUNTS,
a team competition for 6th, 7th
and 8th graders.
Students from schools across the
state of California test their
mathematical skills in a variety of
events, including a team competition.
Every year, CSPEEF sponsors
twenty-six local competitions and two
California state championships for
MATHCOUNTS.
Additionally, the top scoring
California students advance on to the
National MATHCOUNTS championships, were
they compete against students from across
the country.
CSPEEF
also provides the “Ingersoll
EIT Grants” for college engineering
students looking to pursue licensure as a
Professional Engineer (PE).
CSPEEF offers grants to students
who are interested in taking the
California Engineer-In-Training (FE/EIT)
examination, which is the first step on
the road to becoming a licensed
Professional Engineer.
