MATHCOUNTS is a national math coaching and competition
program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement
through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and
territory.
MATHCOUNTS
is one of the country's largest and most
successful education partnerships
involving volunteers, educators, industry
sponsors and students. Presidents
Bush, Reagan, and Clinton have all
recognized MATHCOUNTS in Oval Office
ceremonies, and the program has received
two White House Citations as an
outstanding private sector initiative.
CSPEEF
sponsors 25 local (chapter)
competitions in California in February and
two state championships in March. CSPEEF relies on the generosity
of individuals that believe in the value
of the program to expose over 22,000
middle school students to the benefits of
mathematics in their everyday
lives.
Students
enrolled in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade are
eligible to participate in MATHCOUNTS
competitions. Students taking middle
school mathematics classes who are not
full-time 6th, 7th, or 8th graders are not
eligible. Participation in
MATHCOUNTS competitions is limited to
three years for each student though there
is no limit to the number of years a
student may participate in the
school-based coaching phase.
